Tips And Tricks For The Wedding Day

Tips And Tricks For The Wedding Day

If you're like us, you're probably a little camera shy. Lucky for you, we've got a handy list of tips and tricks for the day. Get the lowdown on what to expect and how to prep.

1. Relax, and be yourself.
Yeah, yeah. We know. You’ve heard it a lot for a reason, though -- when you’re feeling stiff and anxious, the camera knows it. Take a deep breath. We’ve got you.

2. Add some padding to your timeline.
No need to rush through the day by trying to fit everything in the smallest amount of time possible. Add a little bit of padding time so you can soak it all in without the stress. Expecting a 30 minute ceremony? Budget 45 minutes for it. It’ll make a world of difference, we promise.

3. Send all of the logistics to your photographer and videographer.
The timeline and group shot list are key -- keep your photo and video team in the know. Be sure to send all of the logistics their way well in advance, so they’re walking in geared up and ready to do what they do best.

4. Appoint a friend or family member to wrangle people for group shots.
It’s likely that your photo and video team won’t learn everyone’s names right off the bat, so help them out by appointing someone who knows both families well and isn’t afraid to be a little loud. We know you wanna get to cocktail hour, so let’s get through that list together.

5. Know that mood boards are inspiration -- not a strict template.
We love inspiration pics. Give us all the mood boards. But remember: when you hire a photo and video team, you’re hiring them to capture the day with their creative expertise, not someone else’s. Your photo and video team will appreciate inspo to get to know you and what you like.

6. Put all of your stuff in a corner.
For every bridal suite, there’s a pile of junk waiting to be in the background of a shot. Try to organize the bags, boxes, cups, and the million other things that somehow found their way into your bridal suite into a specific corner.

7. Expect some setup and prep time.
Photos and videos take time. Whether your photo and video team is setting up for the day or taking a beat to correct a technical error, it’s all in the interest of your beautiful wedding media.

8. Know that the best time to take portraits is during golden hour -- roughly an hour before the sun sets.
Cooler temps and softer, more golden light, and le voilà, you’ve got yourself instantly prettier photos and videos. If possible, schedule your ceremony and couple’s portraits around this time.

9. Let your photo and video team be the bad guys.
We’ve been there. You’ve got family members who want you to pose for photos you don’t want. Let your photo and video team be your scapegoats -- it’s your day, and you’re here for a great time. Let us take the heat for any stressful conflicts.

10. Know that no matter how well you plan the day, things can and will happen.
The day doesn’t have to be super rigid. Things might run a little behind or early, and that’s totally okay. Roll with the punches, take a deep breath, and have fun.
